Apple's App Store commission used to be one number. In 2026 it depends on where your players are and which program you're in. Below is each region, from Apple's own developer pages, checked October 25, 2026. The rules keep changing, so check the source before you set prices.

The rates at a glance
| Region | In-app purchase through Apple | Purchase through a link to your website |
|---|---|---|
| Most of the world | 30%, or 15% (Small Business Program, subscriptions after year one) | Not allowed except through specific entitlements |
| United States | 30%, or 15% | Links allowed on the US storefront. No court-set commission as of Oct 25, 2026; Apple has proposed 15% |
| European Union (from Oct 1, 2026) | 26%, or 15% | 15%, or 10%, on sales within 7 days of the link tap |
| Japan | 21% + 5% payment processing, or 10% + 5% | 15%, or 10%, on sales within 7 days of the link tap |
The reduced rate (15% or 10%) covers members of the App Store Small Business Program and auto-renewing subscriptions after their first year. In the EU and Japan it also covers the Mini Apps and Video partner programs.
Most of the world: 30% and 15%
Apple's standard commission on in-app purchases is 30%. The App Store Small Business Program cuts it to 15% for developers with up to $1M in proceeds in the prior calendar year, and for new developers. If you pass $1M during the year, the standard rate applies to future sales. Auto-renewing subscriptions drop to 15% after a subscriber's first year.
United States: links allowed, commission pending in court
- Links are allowed. Apple's App Review Guidelines (3.1.1(a) and 3.1.3) say US storefront apps don't need an entitlement to include buttons, external links or other calls to action to other purchase methods.
- Commission: pending. In December 2025 the Ninth Circuit upheld the contempt finding against Apple. It held that a total ban on commissions was too broad and sent the question of a non-prohibitive commission back to the district court.
- Apple's proposal. In August 2026 Apple asked the district court for 15% on linked-out purchases, 10% for subscription renewals and some partner programs, and 5% for Small Business Program members. Epic opposed it. As of October 25, 2026, we found no order setting a rate.

European Union: new terms from October 1, 2026
Apple moved the EU to a single business model, now part of its developer agreement (Attachment 14):
| Standard | Reduced | |
|---|---|---|
| In-app purchase through Apple | 26% | 15% |
| Alternative payment processing in the app | 20% | 10% |
| Out-of-app offers through a link (sales within 7 days of the tap) | 15% | 10% |
| Apps distributed outside the App Store (Core Technology Commission) | 5% |
The Initial Acquisition Fee and Store Services Fee are gone, and the per-install Core Technology Fee was replaced by the 5% Core Technology Commission.
Japan: 21% + 5%, or 15% through a link
| Standard | Reduced | |
|---|---|---|
| App Store commission | 21% | 10% |
| Apple In-App Purchase payment processing | +5% | +5% |
| Purchases on your website through a link (sales within 7 days of the tap) | 15% | 10% |
| Apps distributed outside the App Store (Core Technology Commission) | 5% |
Developers need to accept the updated developer agreement by March 17, 2026.

Linking from your iOS game to your web store
- Check the rules for each storefront you ship in, and use Apple's entitlement where one is required.
- Open your store with
openStore(), or one pack withpurchase(sku), from the iOS or Unity SDK. - Grant items from Appside's signed webhook, exactly once per order. The return link only updates the game's screen.
